Punching Myself-Portrait (pt 2)

And here is the final portrait. I hope you enjoy seeing me get punched. Maybe I'm fulfilling someone's hidden desire, and to them, you're welcome. Otherwise, I hope you feel bad for fictional me.

Punching Myself-Portrait

Here is the black and white line drawing for the self portrait I just completed.

Back Cover Couch

Here is the black and white original inking of the back cover to the upcoming "The Couch" comic, which shall be fully unveiled at this year's Boston Comicon.

Children's Book Illustration "The Mess"

Here we find Ben and Dan playing pretend in their room and making a mess. Their mom has just walked in and discovered the nature of their room, which she will then have to order them to clean, but as you can tell by her face, it's understood that they are just kids having fun and no harm was really done. This two page spread would follow that of the space battle depiction where Ben and Dan hid behind rocks, firing their laser guns towards the giant tentacle monster Slorth, who can be seen as one of their toys within the toy box they are "hiding" behind.

Dan character design

And with continuing on the subject of character designs, here is the character Dan, who can be seen within an earlier post involving laser shooting and alien slime. He is the younger of the two brothers and tends to be very playful and outgoing.

Mom Character Design

When developing the manuscript and the characters for the children's story I've been working on, I created concepts early on that included both profile and full body designs. This is the portrait piece of the mom that I landed on and have been using since. I wanted her to be young and soft with eyes that were big and expressive.

Mega Man tribute piece

Here is a Mega Man illustration I did for a tribute that was being compiled from different artist's submissions. Sadly they decided that this was not of the "style" they wished to present and declined it's inclusion. I wanted to go for a more new age presentation of the classic characters, making a more intense and serious scene than a cartoon-ish one. Hell, it's way less creepy than the original western box art with the highly rendered man in spandex with a pistol. Eww... just thinking about it makes me cringe.

Injustice League

So, one day on the train I was thinking about what the most painful feeling in the world must be. After quickly discarding much of reality, I landed on Superman. The strongest "man" "alive", and then combined that with the precious act of a nut shot. Realizing how painful this fictional scenario would be I decided to do a little sketch in my 4"x6" sketchbook that I had with me. Since then I kept landing upon the image when I'd flip through my old pages. So then I decided that I may as well devote a little time to fully realizing this action and came up with this poor kid who seems to have just simply been waiting for the bus, when all of a sudden Superman arrives only to deliver a swift kick to the balls and then proceeds to laugh at the child's pain. All I could think is, "Superman's a dick", which pretty much sums up the reason Batman will always be way cooler. While Batman may be a bit emo, at least he's not a bro like Superman. Jerk.

Just ordered a batch of these stickers. I will be sure to post them as soon as they arrive. Stay posted.

Final Portrait

I played around with more and more textures for this one. It's both super saturated and grimy, which I actually really like. Just like my soul. haha.

Portrait

In order to take a break from doing the children's work, I decided to have my hand at doing a portrait. Not one which represents my appearance, but rather my feelings and undisclosed inner sanctum that only seems to shine through within my art, and even then it's just the tip of the iceberg. This portrait, "Embodiment of Self and the Reflection of Doubt" gives visual representation to what naturally occurs in my imagination. There's a very faint hint of anything resembling a classic portrait, but I feel that it is more true to me than a clear profile. That which lies on the surface merely conceals the truth from within, and this is that shadow of doubt that resides there. I plan to add color and texture as soon as I can, but until then I wanted to disclose the pure black and white ink drawing, which is a whole world apart from the digitally colored piece.

Orchid for Crest

I'm currently working on revising a friend's family crest for his upcoming wedding. The original has a shield that contains two pairs of doves, two trees, and a plant of some sort in the center. In place of this central plant I am going to place in an orchid. Since it's an older crest, it appears to be an etching print visually, so staying within that realm I decided to use micron pens.

Children's Book Illustration 2

Here is an image of another scene from the current children's book idea I'm working on.

Children's Book Illustration

Here is the first of many to come of my ever growing children's book illustrations. These are two characters I made, among others, for a story I made, among others.

Here is a black and white ink drawing of a robot design for a project I am working on currently. I've also begun adding washes of gray to my typical black and white images to give a feeling of wear or grime, and I believe it has been coming out quite well.

Apologies

Hi everybody. I know it's been a while since anything new has gone up, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been doing work. I have a lot of new material and I will be sure to post them as soon as I can, or rather, feel it's ready to be unveiled. I'll make sure to do it in increments so you don't have to wait too much longer or get overwhelmed when the time comes. Thanks again to everyone for their viewership and support <3

Droid Designs

Recently I have been working primarily on this ongoing project which has required quite a lot of character design. Specifically designing a variety of droids that would populate this world. I can't say too much about it, but I thought that I could share a few images as they come to hopefully get some excitement to build amongst the viewers. I will be sure to upload more updates regarding this projects as it comes along. Stay posted.

"I Was Totally Destroying It" 2011 band tour poster

Here is a poster I did for a band out in North Carolina. Their music has a very fun and poppy rock beat that seemed to fit this sort of ludicrous scenario. Please check them out at http://www.myspace.com/iwtdi

Help Fight Homelessness

I felt that it was necessary to both make a heart warming Christmas card as well as a prevalent statement for this time of year. I hope it comes to inspire a few people to help where they can and donate when they can. And if you do see a Yeti who seems cold, please help him, or her, out too. Just make sure they are actually cold and hungry; not just hungry for your flesh :) Happy Holidays!
